A security company called Opswat did a survey about antivirus software used by computer user in many country especially in countries that use English. The survey give a result that many people use free antivirus software instead of paid antivirus. The result shows that free versions of antivirus software dominated market share with 42%.
"The survey shows that users have confidence in the ability of free antivirus applications," said Opswat in the report, as quoted from the PC Advisor, July 12, 2010. Opswat alsi said, "It seems that users feel comfortable same as using paid antivirus software".
The other result for the survey give four most popular free antivirus software and three most popular paid antivirus that used.
For free antivirus :
Avast Free Antivirus 11.45%
Avira AntiVir Personal Free Antivirus 9.19%
AVG Anti-Virus Free 8.60%
Microsoft Security Essentials 7.48%
And for paid antivirus :
Avast 5.40%
Kaspersky Internet Security 4.48%
Norton anti-virus 4.24%
Almost 50% People Feel Comfortable Using Free Antiviruses
