Setting Socks Proxy on Firefox

Maybe you have question about how to setting firefox to use a socks proxy. If you used to use http proxy, then setting socks proxy is not so different. This post will guide you.

For Firefox Linux :
Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Settings

For Windows :
Go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Settings


Then choose "Manual proxy configuration" and fill only the "SOCKS Host" and let the other empty. Fill the SOCKS Host with your socks proxy server and port. Choose what socks you are using, socks 4 or socks 5. This picture is using socks 5 proxy.

Nice post but I'd like to add that Firefox does not support SOCKS4/5 authentication. So if you're using a paid service like PIA, this will not let you authenticate against their proxy.

Thank you for the tutorial. Nice post. There is an SOCKS proxy lists resource. You can get fresh proxy lists from there and use them with the methods mentioned in this post. Have a look at it: SOCKS Proxy lists.
